The concept of AI (Artificial Intelligence) is that a computer system can be used in order to perform various tasks that actually require a human being. These tasks range from translation into different languages, speech recognition to decision making and even visual perception. In other words, anything can be considered as Artificial Intelligence if the work involves any kind of program doing something that according to our thinking would actually rely on the intelligence of human beings. However, the point is not to know how it is achieved but just the fact that this can be done and indeed it is a sign of Artificial Intelligence.

There are different wild statements thrown about Artificial Intelligence which includes threats to jobs and even threat to the human race. These are all based on human fear and sometimes exaggeration. So here are some of the pros and cons of Artificial Intelligence.

Pros of Artificial Intelligence

  • Dealing with mundane tasks

One of the most advantageous things done by Artificial Intelligence is that it has the potential to complete mundane tasks with intricate authentication which ultimately results in increasing the productivity. Theoretically speaking, this actually removes boring tasks from humans and thus frees them up so that they can be creative on their own.

  • Faster decisions

With the help of Artificial Intelligence along with cognitive technologies, it can help in making faster decisions and thus can carry out actions quickly.

  • Avoiding errors

‘Human error’ is a phrase which came up as humans make mistakes from time to time. However, a computer does not do any kind of mistakes except when it is programmed wrongly which is also another human mistake. With the help of Artificial Intelligence, huge chunks of data can be processed without any error.

  • Taking risks on behalf of humans

Humans can lessen the risks with the help of Artificial Intelligence. One of the examples is space exploration and ‘Curiosity’, the Mars rover. The Mars rover can travel along the landscape of Mars then explore and determine the best path that it should take. Other areas where Artificial Intelligence helps in a similar manner are oil exploration, medical diagnosis, and demand forecasting.

Cons of Artificial Intelligence

  • Job losses

There is a small doubt that AI will displace a number of low skilled jobs. Already robots already have taken a number of jobs. The concept of driverless cars can displace the need for millions of human drivers from chauffeurs to taxi drivers.

  • Distribution of power

In minds of some people, Artificial Intelligence actually carries the risk that it can take control from the human beings. A number of nations who possess AI can kill humans without pulling a trigger theoretically.

  • Lack of judgment calls

Humans can make judgment calls and unique circumstances into account while they make any kind of decisions and this is not possible for Artificial Intelligence. One example occurred in Sydney in the year 2014. In a shooting drama in the downtown made people make a number of calls to Uber so that they can escape the area. But the result was that the rides surged as it based on the algorithm of supply and demand.  No considerations were taken under the circumstances.
